DEFINITION: Thin broth made with tucupi, paracress, dried shrimp, aromatic pepper and spices thickened with manioc starch and eaten very hot as a snack in the Amazon.


EXAMPLE: Serve tacacá extremely hot in a bowl.


COMMENT: Prepared with Indian ingredients, tacacá is the everyday soup served in a gourd from carts and stands especially in Pará and Amazonas. The diner experiences a strong tingling sensation that numbs the lips and the tongue after eating the paracress leaves.
