DEFINITION: Fine granulated sugar widely used for sweetening.

COMMENT: The common sugar, found in every Brazilian home’s sugar bowl and called for in most cookbook recipes, is finer than the regular sugar used in most English speaking countries. Combined with water, sugar is used to caramelize moulds to form flan toppings.
